FILIPINO CULTURE IN A KOREAN SHOW

As I had been pretty down lately, I need to take my happy pills, i.e. binge-watching TV shows and movies.

And one of my favorites is this Korean variety show called Running Man. I discovered this show just recently, and I got addicted to it. It was just hilarious! In every single episode, I tell you, I would laugh so hard I had to clip my lips with my fingers so that I won’t wake up the guy living next to my room (because apparently I did wake him up before).

Anyway, while watching this episode of Running Man, I was pleasantly surprised to know that the guest for the episode knows Filipino songs. And one of his favorites is “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar.

The guest was Jung Jin Young, a famous South Korean actor, who has portrayed that policeman from Miracle in Cell No. 7.

He sang a few lines from Anak, and it gave me goosebumps! Haha. Ji Seok Jin (Big Nose Hyungnim) knew the song as well and he even sang more lines than Jin Young. It was such a nice Running Man moment for me.

I’m glad they appreciated Freddie Aguilar’s song, which was indeed huge in my country.

This also reminds me of THAT TIME we were in a theme park in Jeju Island, and they suddenly played “Anak” as a background music for the entire park. NICE!
